The Bank of England has opted to keep base rate on hold for this month. Rates had been held at 5.00% since earlier this year.

How first time buyers can still get a mortgage
First -time buyers have been stopped in their tracks, as most of the mortgage deals they have traditionally depended on to buy a home have been withdrawn as a result of the credit crunch.
Last month saw the last of the 100% mortgages. Many lenders have also withdrawn 95% deals.

Halifax Reduce Rates

Base Rate May Rise Again
Home owners in the UK could face further increases in their monthly mortgage payments as some analysts believe the Bank of England base rate could reach 6% before Christmas.
